Depend on Christ to be Steadfast!
Meditations on 1 Corinthians 15:56-58
56 The sting of death is sin, and the strength of sin is the law. 57 But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.
58 Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your labor is not in vain in the Lord.
Are the waves, the forces of life beating you down? The forces of our own sinful flesh, the forces of the world, day after day unrelenting beating you to go a different direction, the forces of unseen spiritual principalities controlled by Satan, crashing against you everyday or every week? GOD'S WORD TELLS US TO BE STEADFAST, IMMOVABLE, ALWAYS ABOUNDING IN THE WORK OF THE LORD!
Under the law we had a death sentence, but Jesus Christ by living a perfectly righteous life under the law for us, and voluntarily dying on the cross for our sins, meeting all the demands of the law, all of the justice due us, He endured for us!
He won the victory, He gave us the victory through faith in Him! May we hallow Him in our hearts, may we pray for His Kingdom to come and His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven! For God the Father's plan is to bring heaven and earth under the rule of Jesus Christ! He has work for you and I to do toward that end. Work for our sanctification, work to use our spiritual gifts to help our brothers and sisters in Christ in their sanctification to grow them, mature them, be more and more devoted to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Also work to talk to others in our community or wherever we go, talk to them about faith in Jesus Christ! The only hope of eternal life and the only mediator between God the Father and man is Jesus Christ.
So my brothers and sisters in Christ, the journey is hard, the work is laborious, we have many defeats along the way, but God wants us to know that the work you do for your Lord Jesus Christ is not in vain, it will have eternal ramifications for others and for you. So press on, abiding in Christ every day, getting your strength from Him, getting your wisdom from Him, getting your direction and work from Him!
May Jesus Christ be glorified with our lives!
